The recent coronavirus pandemic profoundly changed the way we are: everything we considered normal is now in doubt and requires an upheaval. Covid-19 is hitting our economy hard, with no vertical exclusion.

What till a few months ago was a slow process has now become an urgency. Digital Transformation is no longer just a plan and a marketing hype but a real need. Social distancing made companies aware of the importance of digital services to enable business continuity. Data availability, network navigability, and data protection, previously considered only a “nice to have,” are now a must. This awareness underlined the importance of Data Centers: their ability to flexibly react to unplanned workloads together with their stability, has been fundamental in keeping lights on.

The pandemic has undoubtedly given companies a strong shock, firstly forcing them to start their Digital Transformation, and secondly, increasing their awareness about Data Centers’ strategic role. We are now facing a watershed where digitalization separates winners from losers faster than ever before.

THE ROLE OF Data centers

In addition to the traditional Data Centers’ solutions, these facilities have also become home to the emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and blockchain. Anything and everything businesses need for the digital journey are now co-located somewhere in a Data Center that works round the clock to ensure high availability, secure infrastructure, and uptime. By hosting the foundations for this revolution, Data Centers are now central hubs for supporting companies in their IT implementation, moving away from being mere physical space  and power providers.

Through Data Centers’ scalability, resiliency, and connectivity, companies have the opportunity to boost productivity and performances. A chance not just to stay ahead of the competition but also to completely transform the business. Also, with almost zero tolerance for latency and downtime, Data Centers’ optimal connectivity is vital. The tremendous data explosion of the last few years can be indeed leveraged only by relying on networks able to adequately and securely transport it.
